Greetings, wonderful souls navigating the vast landscape of the internet! As we find ourselves in the embrace of January, 2024, I stand here with a promise to myself – a resolution that’s as simple as it is profound. My resolution for this year? “Return To The Roots“.
In the age of binge-worthy series and endless scrolling, I’ve decided to rewind the clock and dive headfirst into the world of literature. So the first step towards my goal is to read 101 books! It’s time to bid farewell to Netflix and say hello to the comforting weight of a book in hand.
Now, let me be clear – this isn’t a declaration against binge-watchers or a condemnation of social media enthusiasts. I, too, succumbed to the allure of captivating plots and the mindless scroll through perfectly curated lives. However, as the calendar pages turned, I realized it was high time for a reset. The plan? To embark on a literary adventure spanning genres, authors, and perhaps a few dusty shelves.

This journey back into the world of books began with a confession – I’ve been unfaithful to my first love with the allures of OTT. From thrilling crime dramas to heartwarming rom-coms, my attention wandered away from the simple joy of reading. The pandemic brought about a golden age for streaming, but it also resulted in a neglect of the paperback wonders that had been my companions through thick and thin.
So, with determination and a fresh stack of unread books, I kicked off the year. No more daydreaming about being a Money Heist gang member or contemplating life through Instagram filters. It was time to escape into the worlds crafted by the written word.
The first challenge? A goal that seemed both ambitious and exhilarating – 101 books in a single year. A variety of genres and a mix of classic and contemporary authors would be my companions. From the eloquent prose of Jane Austen to the mind-bending plots of Pawla Hawkins, my reading list resembled a literary feast.
The transition wasn’t without sacrifices. Instagram and Facebook were ceremoniously ousted from my phone, relegated to my computer to minimize the temptations of endless scrolling. A drastic move, some might say, but necessary to break free from the digital web that had ensnared me for far too long. Goodbye, mindless scrolling; hello, immersive reading.
As the pages turned and the plot thickened, something magical happened. The more I delved into the realms of books, the more I rediscovered the joy of imagination. No longer was I confined to the visions of directors or the constraints of a screen. My mind roamed freely, creating worlds and characters that transcended the boundaries of pixels.
Sure, there were moments when the allure of a new series or the curiosity of a trending meme tried to pull me toward the digital abyss. But armed with discipline and the promise of unlocking 101 literary treasures, I resisted the urge.
Here we are, on the third day of January, with a bookmarked stack of accomplishments and countless more stories waiting to be explored. My 2024 resolution may have started with a pledge to read 101 books, but it has evolved into a profound rediscovery of the simple pleasures that come with embracing the basics. Who knows what adventures the remaining chapters hold? One thing’s for sure – I’m ready to turn the page and find out. Happy reading, fellow book enthusiasts!
